Chelsey McGovern

Educational Consultant and Yoga Teacher

Together at the Grove

Chelsey McGovern, M. Ed (she/her/hers), is a long-time early childhood educator who is passionate about Reggio Emilia and Constructivist approaches to learning. Throughout her journey, she found the root of her philosophical passions were connected to social-emotional learning, anti-bias & social justice education, and a firm connection to nature and the arts. She has taught in Japan, The U.S., and Germany. She now has left the classroom for the atelier and works as an expressive arts educator & consultant and yoga teacher through her own project: Together at the Grove. She also volunteers for Chile-based skate non-profit Skatesencia at their Berlin chapter by helping create safe spaces, community building, and wellness activities through the medium of skateboarding and roller skating.

Connecting Spaces for Cultivating Self-Care Practices

We will explore how the outdoors, art corners, and rest time can be important spaces towards cultivating self-care practices. The mission is to provide children with opportunities to be more introspective and aware of their physical and emotional needs. Integrating an anti-bias understanding, self-care learning can give children tools to prepare them to effectively handle future stressors. Self-care can help to decrease stress and promote healthy relationships between self and community.
